Ok, just when I think that there isn't a reality show that I know of, out pops a show on the Style network that just blows my mind! For the record, no I am NOT talking about Big Rich Texas, although that show is oddly amusing...I am talking about a show called Sperm Donor. This show follows a guy who donated sperm on an enjoyably regular basis, as a way to pay for law school. The story picks up in his life when he is recently engaged and going through the steps of finalizing his wedding with his fiance. Now, apparently this guy fully disclosed to his fiance that he was a donor at the beginning of their courtship, and she dismissed it at the time as just a silly little hobby. Cut to several years later when the guy finds out that his lucky little swimmers were not chosen once, not twice, but at least 70 times! (needless to say this does NOT make the bride happy!) Yes, he has 70 little mini-me's running around the world...some not knowing that they have 69 half brothers and sisters (which is only a few more kids than the Kardashian Klan)
In the first episode, the donor meets one his children and entertains us with an afternoon full of playing soccer, teaching her how to play miniature golf, and sharing awkward hugs, as the little girl begins to get used to having this ""father figure" around. She even asks her mom if he can move in. In separate interviews, the mother of the little girl is asked if the donor would play a future role in her little girl's life, and she responds saying that she is sure he will. This is definitely good news for the little girl. In a different interview, the same question is posed to the donor, asking if this is one of many future visits, and he adamantly proclaims, NO...this was a once in a lifetime get together...EEK! To top it off, the bride-to-be is very vocal on expressing that she has no intentions on sharing donor dude with ANYONE, not even one of his sperm baby!
I guess I can't blame her, as they have plans of raising their own children. But part of me feels sorry for that little girl (and not just because she got her fathers forehead), why would donor guy meet her if he had NO intention of being a part of her life, I couldnt help but ask myself as I watched this story unfold, what was the point? And just when I was about to ponder the question further, a commercial for Papa John's pizza came on, and I got up and ordered a large pepperoni lovers pizza...
